Cara Cupp

Attorney

Cara has practiced family law exclusively for nearly fifteen years. After graduating from U.C. Hastings College of the Law, Cara gained extensive litigation skills at a Los Angeles based international law firm. Prior to joining Hanson Crawford Crum Family Law Group, Cara worked at a premier boutique family law firm in San Francisco.  Cara specializes in high asset dissolutions involving complex financial and custody issues. She has extensive experience in complex cases involving property characterization and apportionment, premarital and marital agreements, high earner and high standard of living child and spousal support, and equity compensation. Cara represents a broad array of clients—professionals, stay-at-home parents, professional athletes and musicians, venture capitalists, corporate executives, business owners, as well as beneficiaries of substantial family wealth, and approaches every matter with a high level of compassion, discretion, integrity, and professionalism.

Cara has distinct knowledge and expertise in complex custody disputes involving Custody Evaluations, high conflict co-parenting, parental relocation, estrangement and alienation, mental health issues, domestic abuse, and substance abuse. Cara works closely with her clients (and a team of experts as necessary) to identify and develop a case strategy to address the origin of the disputes and has successfully resolved several high conflict custody cases both in and out of court. Given her substantial experience in working with families in transition, she is uniquely positioned to guide her clients from a place of instability to one marked by sensible, lasting, child-centered resolutions.

Cara understands that divorce is an intensely emotional and personal experience that can have an immeasurable impact on her clients and their children. She has an ability when it comes to listening to and connecting with her clients which enables her to navigate them through the divorce process, and to tailor an effective resolution for each client’s individual needs.

When she is not in the office, Cara enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, volunteering, and participating in community activism.
